About the role
MTN Nigeria, part of the MTN Group and Africa's leading cellular telecommunications company, is seeking a Manager for FTTH Core Network Planning. The role is responsible for the design, planning, and optimization of MTNN's FTTH Core (Data & Voice) Network, ensuring a cost-effective and optimal network design. Based in Lagos, this full-time position requires 6-13 years of experience, including at least 4 years in the telecommunications industry with FTTH core network planning and design.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate efforts, input, and output from internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient FTTH Core (Data & Voice) Network design.
- Interface with relevant stakeholders for FTTH Core solutions development and planning.
- Manage the evolution of the FTTH Core Network to compete effectively in the telecoms environment.
- Direct and mentor FTTH Core Network engineers to meet defined KPIs.
- Define and direct procedures for efficient and optimal FTTH Core network and timely deployment of quality network solutions.
- Review and approve documentation and reports within the FTTH Core environment.
- Translate MTNN's business plan and subscriber growth assumptions into FTTH Core requirements.
- Drive design and plan for cost-efficient packet core network to support rollout with a 5+ year horizon.
- Plan and monitor the FTTH Core Network budget in line with business plan and departmental goals.
- Develop strategies for efficient FTTH Core utilization and secure access to the MTNN network.
- Design network architecture and specification of FTTH Core Network.
- Implement virtualization, SDN, and cloud technologies to modernize legacy network within FTTH Core.
- Analyze traffic trends, forecast growth, perform network dimensioning, and plan capacity expansion.
- Lead cloud deployment including onboarding, testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
- Analyze protocol traces for root cause analysis of complex network faults.
- Implement product design and configure data policies for QoS, charging rate, fair usage within FTTH Core.
- Identify and implement new solutions and features to enhance and optimize fixed broadband service.
- Prepare and present detailed technical solutions and executive summary reports.
- Maintain awareness of latest technological and industry developments.
- Act as subject matter expert regarding FTTH core network and strategic capacity planning.
- Monitor international trends and business best practices related to network solutions or technology.
- Direct delivery of future-proof solutions in MTNN FTTH core networks to meet customer requirements.
- Direct activities for architectural service design and efficient delivery of FTTH Core platforms (BRAS/BNG, IMS, AAA nodes, etc.).
