About the role
NewGlobe supports visionary governments to transform public education systems through a comprehensive system transformation platform and data-driven educational services. As Vice President, Software Development, you will own NewGlobe's software engineering function and lead its transition to becoming a genuinely AI-native engineering organisation. Based in Lagos, Nigeria, you will report to the Chief Technology Officer and work closely with Lagos and peer leadership in a hands-on, high-leverage role within a lean, mission-driven, cost-conscious organisation.

Responsibilities
- Own the software engineering function end to end, including delivery teams and cross-cutting capabilities in solutions architecture, DevOps/CloudOps, and the data platform.
- Lead the transformation to a truly AI-native engineering organisation, setting strategy and roadmap to advance the department's AI-maturity.
- Lead from the front by staying hands-on, pairing with engineers, and setting the standard for AI-assisted development including agentic workflows, skills, and memory.
- Turn functions into leverage by reshaping roles like QA and product design toward factory capabilities that build agents and systems to test and design at scale.
- Manage the human side of technological change, addressing fears and turning the transition into something the team is energised by.
- Deliver against programme and product commitments with a lean, high-leverage team while maintaining quality through an agentic toolchain.
- Build the team by recruiting, coaching, performance-managing, and growing engineers, partnering closely with the CTO and Lagos and peer leadership.
