About the role
FairMoney is a digital platform in Nigeria that allows you access instant loans in a few minutes through our android app. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers responsible for building and scaling reliable technology solutions for our lending and credit products. You will combine strong technical expertise with people leadership, working closely with Product, Data, Risk, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, creating a high-performing and collaborative engineering culture.
- Own the technical direction and delivery of systems supporting lending and credit products.
- Work closely with Product, Risk, Data, and other teams to define technical solutions and delivery priorities.
- Drive the design, development, and scaling of reliable backend services and distributed systems.
- Participate in architectural decisions and ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and resilient.
- Set engineering standards around code quality, testing, deployment, observability, and system reliability.
- Support engineers with technical guidance, code reviews, architecture discussions, and complex problem-solving.
- Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and system reliability issues.
- Ensure effective planning, prioritisation, and timely delivery of engineering initiatives.
- Establish and track engineering metrics around delivery, quality, reliability, and operational performance.
- Support incident management and ensure effective root-cause analysis and follow-up.
- Coach engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, career development, and performance management.
- Participate in hiring and help build a strong engineering team.
