About the role
FairMoney is a digital lending platform in Nigeria offering instant loans via its Android app. As an Intermediate Software Engineer (RCL) on the Lending team, you will design, develop, test, and maintain reliable backend services powering FairMoney's financial products. You will work with Golang and Ruby on Rails, design robust APIs, and manage relational databases while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role offers remote/in-office flexibility and the opportunity to build technology impacting financial services across emerging markets.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable backend services
- Write clean, maintainable, production-ready code in Golang and/or Ruby on Rails
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, well-documented APIs
- Integrate backend services with internal and external systems
- Design relational database schemas and write efficient SQL queries (PostgreSQL/MySQL)
- Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests
- Participate in automated testing and CI processes
- Use AI-powered development tools and prompt engineering to improve productivity
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data teams on technical solutions
- Participate in code reviews, technical planning, and architecture decisions
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues
