About the role
Moniepoint is a financial technology company digitising Africa’s real economy by building a financial ecosystem for businesses, providing them with payment, banking, credit and business management tools. As Product Design Manager, you will lead a small team of product designers, set design direction, and ensure quality across POS, mobile, web, and operational tools. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on designing for trust, accessibility, and low-end devices in emerging markets.

Responsibilities
- Set design direction for your area, turn it into plans with milestones and measurable outcomes, and make the case to senior leaders.
- Work with product partners to ensure clear, well-framed briefs and push back when needed.
- Keep customer journeys whole across teams and resolve conflicting designs before launch.
- Run critique and design reviews against a definition of done that includes accessibility.
- Decide what must be tested with customers before build and plan validation with success metrics.
- Ensure journeys use the design system, handling market and product variations within it.
- Plan and staff system contributions like any other project.
- Build trusted partnerships with product and engineering so design shapes what gets built.
- Hire well, set clear expectations, give direct feedback, and build growth paths for designers.
- Bring AI tools into the team's design process and build fluency across the team.
