About the role

The Senior Data Governance, Policy & Control Specialist is responsible for driving enterprise-wide data governance initiatives, policy management, audit coordination, and control enforcement across the Bank. The role ensures that data management practices align with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and the Bank's risk appetite.

Responsibilities
- Lead the drafting, review, implementation, and periodic renewal of data governance policies, standards, frameworks, and procedures.
- Design and maintain the overarching data governance framework and own the full policy lifecycle.
- Ensure policies align with regulatory requirements, translate them into actionable governance policy language, and conduct policy gap analysis to recommend improvements.
- Oversee the enterprise-wide implementation of data governance initiatives and monitor compliance with established data governance standards, controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits relating to the Enterprise Data Office.
- Implement the enterprise data stewardship program, defining and operationalising data ownership across domains.
- Design and implement data governance controls to monitor policy compliance across business units.
- Conduct periodic control testing, self-assessments, and gap analyses.
- Maintain the data governance risk and issue register, ensuring timely escalation and remediation of control failures, and support audits by providing evidence of governance controls.
- Design and deliver data governance training, awareness campaigns, and onboarding materials to build data literacy.
- Embed governance practices into everyday business and technical workflows, act as a trusted advisor to business units, and champion data governance value internally.
