About the role
The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for cleaning, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data to support informed business decisions, improve operational efficiency, and drive organisational performance. The successful candidate will transform raw data from various sources into meaningful insights, reports, dashboards, and actionable recommendations.
The role works closely with Operations, Finance, Commercial, Technology, and Management to monitor performance, identify trends, uncover inefficiencies, and support strategic planning. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools, spreadsheet applications, database management, and data visualisation.

Responsibilities
- Collect data from internal and external sources, including company databases, operational systems, spreadsheets, CRM platforms, ERP systems, and departmental reports.
- Gather, consolidate, and organise data from multiple departments to support business analysis.
- Ensure data is accurate, complete, consistent, and available for reporting.
- Develop and maintain structured datasets for recurring analysis and reporting.
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, duplication, and errors in data.
- Establish processes for efficient data collection, storage, retrieval, and management.
- Maintain an up-to-date data inventory and documentation of relevant data sources.
- Collaborate with department heads and data owners to improve the quality and availability of business data.
- Support the development and maintenance of data repositories and databases.
- Ensure data is handled in accordance with company policies, confidentiality requirements, and applicable data protection regulations.
- Clean and preprocess raw data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Identify and resolve missing, duplicate, inaccurate, or inconsistent data.
- Standardise data formats, naming conventions, and categorisation.
- Validate data against source documents and approved business records.
- Perform data transformation and preparation for analysis.
- Develop repeatable processes for cleaning and preparing datasets.
- Investigate data discrepancies and escalate unresolved issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain proper documentation of data preparation procedures and assumptions.
- Analyse business data to identify trends, patterns, relationships, and performance gaps.
- Conduct descriptive and diagnostic analysis to understand business performance and operational outcomes.
- Perform comparative analysis across departments, products, customers, projects, locations, and reporting periods.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue growth, productivity improvement, and process optimisation.
- Analyse business performance against approved targets, budgets, and KPIs.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify differences between actual and expected results.
- Develop forecasts, projections, and trend analyses where required.
- Perform root-cause analysis to support the resolution of operational and business challenges.
- Translate analytical findings into practical recommendations for Management.
- Support Management with data-driven insights for business planning and strategic decision-making.
- Prepare accurate, timely, and insightful daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms.
- Design dashboards that provide visibility into business performance and key operational metrics.
- Track departmental KPIs and present performance against approved targets.
- Prepare Management reports highlighting key findings, trends, risks, and recommendations.
- Automate recurring reports and reduce manual reporting processes.
- Ensure all reports are clearly structured, visually understandable, and supported by accurate data.
- Present analytical findings to Management and relevant stakeholders.
- Update dashboards and reports in line with business requirements.
- Maintain proper version control and documentation of reports and dashboards.
- Analyse customer acquisition, retention, satisfaction, and sales performance.
- Track operational productivity, turnaround times, service delivery, and resource utilisation.
- Analyse shipment, haulage, freight forwarding, clearing, and logistics performance.
- Monitor shipment volumes, delivery timelines, delays, costs, and operational bottlenecks.
- Analyse customer and shipment profitability.
- Track outstanding receivables, collection performance, and cash flow trends in collaboration with Finance.
- Identify inefficiencies in business processes and recommend improvements.
- Support Management in evaluating the performance of new initiatives, projects, and business strategies.
- Provide insights to improve service quality, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
